Without a Net provides a candid and humorous yet ultimately hopeful and inspiring backstage glimpse into the inner workings of a small, but respected Los Angeles theater company, whose members include Alfred Molina, Jack Stehlin, Casey Biggs and Jill Gascoine, among others. The film follows the artists as they struggle to survive and keep the company going, despite a nearly flawless record of presenting the very highest quality classical works and new plays. This film poses the question 'do we still need theater?' These artists (most of whom make their living working in film and television) persevere in their stage craft; and, despite an ever-dwindling audience in a town the cares more about their movie and television work, they keep the theater alive.
