During the 1960s and the 1970s, the small fishing village of Matala in Greece with its famous caves and the ancient Roman tombs was the favourite destination of the globe-trotting hippies travelling from America and Europe to India, Nepal and Afghanistan. Through interviews with former hippies and locals, the documentary explores the truth behind the myth of the vibrant hippies of Matala, on the occasion of the presentation of German journalist Arn Strohmeyer's book named "The Myth of Matala" in June 2011, where thousands of former cave "tenants" met once more for a great hippie reunion.
