'Rhythms of a Port' is a five screen installation which creates a fascinating contemporary symphonic experience of the little-known world of working life on the Dublins' Docks. Through weaving mesmeric imagery of working life on land and at sea with the personal stories of stevedores, dockers, pilots and boatmen, the film allows an insight into an area and life that remain relatively unknown territory for Dubliners. Despite its international nature, there still exists a small community who have faced the challenges of dramatic change and conflict and can recall through oral history 'a world of masts, funnels, towering cranes, barges, carts, horses...a hundred sounds becoming a symphony of dockland.' The film captures today's version of this majestic industrial vision.
