Paat (2013)

A dog, a big city, two men, three women, one great adventure. The light and shadows of human society is beautifully captured through the eyes of a dog in this episodic narrative. After his master dies, faithful canine companion Paat goes on the run in Tehran, a city where dogs are illegal. Prone to following any person who seems friendly, Paat ends up in the company of successive troubled souls. As he interacts with them, we are granted access to private slices of modern life, seen from an ankle-eye perspective. A singular vision and a minimalistic approach to filming, as well as its adorable four-legged star, cement this film as an entertaining and charming romp.
