Deadman's Bluff

As the film opens, Tyler Hagan, the estranged son of eccentric billionaire, Ross Hagan (the richest man in the world), sits alone, drunken and disheveled, in his father's behemoth estate, "Carcosa", A cloistered, castle-like, edifice, situated at the far end of Deadman's Bluff. A wealthy enclave overlooking the popular surfing mecca of Deadman's Cove, near Byron Bay, Australia. Tyler had arrived earlier that day, from his home in the States, after receiving word that his father's plane has gone missing over the Coral Sea, several days before, and that the elusive billionaire was now presumed dead. After pouring himself another drink and stepping out to the back garden, Tyler is startled by the sudden and unexpected appearance of a man claiming to be his father's life long friend and long time psychiatrist, Doctor Maximillian Klein. The doctor shares some intimate, emotional exchanges with the young man, before insisting that Tyler join him the very next morning on his father's yacht, "Cassilda's Song", where he promises to present him with "a life changing surprise". A surprise which culminates in the appearance of a man claiming to be Ross Hagan, himself. A proclamation which Tyler quickly denies, much to the chagrin of both Ross and the good Doctor. The latter of whom continues to back up the elder Hagan's claim. As do two young, local, surfers, Bren and Nathan, who claim to have met the enigmatic Hagan a number of years back. When they were kids and had stolen onto his gated beach to catch the early morning break. What is going on? Whose who? Why are people dying? Are the Doctor and the two young locals in cahoots with a cunning con man out to swindle young Tyler out of his impending fortune? Find out why Master of Suspense, Sir Alfred Hitchcock held the film rights to this project for in excess of 50 years, hoping to make it as his swan song film.
