Joana suffers from a double personality and is obsessed with Anna Karenina, the character from Tolstoi's novel. Embodying the myth of Narcissus, Anna K. is the image and resemblance of Joana, stronger and more seductive. Professor Nikitin, a Russian Literature specialist, receives an undeniable request from Professor Boris Schnaiderman; advised by a psychiatrist, Nikitin will teach Russian to help Joana heal from her disorder. Among lessons, poetry and romance, Nikitin falls in love with Joana, who is becoming more and more involved with Anna K. The psychodramatic game becomes a dangerous love triangle, putting Joana's life at stake, and she might end up having the same tragic destiny of the novel's character.
