Better known by his pseudonym Araucaria, John Graham set the Guardian cryptic crossword for 55 years. His puzzles sat on the breakfast tables of families, in the laps of commuters and were passed around offices for a generation. At 92, he was widely recognised as one of the most talented exponents of the craft that has ever lived.
