When a Kansas City television station and a major record label join forces to sponsor a city-wide talent search, it brings out the inspirational best and hilarious worst in people. The free spirited Hope had enough of being the starving rock artist and found financial stability in a relationship with her boss Keaton. But now that she has gained everything, she has lost her sense of self and any creativity that came with it. MJ has been writing and producing Hip Hop with his wife for a decade until tragedy struck and left him alone. Jet and The Borderline are the most successful local band in Kansas City, they would be the first to tell you -- but their methods of attaining talent and eliminating competition has created a rivalry among the other musicians. Add to that, country crooner Melody Starr, rap battle kingpin Reace Yung, and rockers Richard Parker and the competition gets fierce. $10,000 and a recording contract go to the winner of the Open Mic Finals.
