Thousands of years ago, a King of the Hmong Kingdom orders his most trusted Royal Guard to inspect a village that people say have been attacked. The Daughter of the King who has seer-like abilities warns the Guard not to go. The Royal Guard, loyal to the King and kingdom, obeys the orders; he travels out with his men. The Royal Guard reaches the village with his soldiers. The village looked as if it was just recently abandoned with food still warm, but everything seems to be abandoned and empty or so they thought. They get ambushed by the villagers who looks monstrous. The Daughter gets a vision of the King corrupted by spirits and going mad. The Daughter approaches the King to ask him why he has ordered them to their deaths. The Mad King said that he knows about the daughter and the guards forbidden love and that their death will not go in vain. It will buy the kingdom a few more days to live in peace before the spirits take over. The Royal Guard, knowing that he and his men is fighting a lost battle with the spirits, orders his men to retreat to the kingdom to tell the King what has happened not knowing the King has already gone mad. He stays behind to hold the spirits so his men can escape.
