In 2010, the producers at a small Dutch documentary film company received an interesting and very unusual research proposal. Some neuroscience graduate student was planning to administer psilocybin to children. Having observed recent studies confirming the therapeutic use of psilocybin (the active ingredient in psychedelic mushrooms), this student had lofty expectations for controlled studies with 5 and 6 year-old kids. While interesting, this course of experimentation was not without obstacles. The whole controversial story, covering six years of observations, has here at last been made available to the world.
