In November 2015 Afghan refugee Zohre rings Marjolijn's doorbell to ask if she can stay for the night. After some hesitation, the door opens and a blanket is placed on the sofa. First there is discomfort and silence and then slowly but surely there is more. From a number of crucial scenes between Zohre and Marjolijn we distil the year that has passed since Zohre first visited Marjolijn and slept on her sofa. A year filled with good intentions, awkward attempts, mutual expectations and suspicion. A year filled with phone calls with reluctant authorities, driving lessons and nocturnal conversations about loneliness and loss. A short film about small lives in the light of big problems.
