Dr. Kafka is a gynecologist and one of the pioneers of IVF in Israel. She brought generations of Jerusalem residents to the world, connecting modern medicine with the ultra orthodox Jewish community for over 40 years and she has spent her life trying to find balance between personal motherhood and professional success. This is a film about motherhood. According to one of her staff, Kafka as responsible for half of the children in Jerusalem. She practices in Vito fertilization for members of the ultra orthodox Jewish and Muslim communities. This practice poses ethical questions and requires her to adapt to the religious demands of patients. While treating ultra orthodox women, Dr. Kafka must consult a Rabbi, and get permission before executing decisions. This situation illustrates the contrast between Kafka, who is an independent single mother, and women who cannot even choose what is best for their own bodies and are subservient to the male decision makers in their community. She describes herself as a doctor in the firs place, and as a mother in second. Curiously enough, her daughter just finished her army service, and has also decided to become a doctor. This story is a metaphor for the circle of life . Thanks to Dr. Kafka, many children are being born. She is responsible for starting a new life in the city. She has seen a lot, she has made mistakes, and she has accomplished a lot.
