Kohei Sengen was born in Tokyo in 1972. Ever since graduating from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University in 1995, he has been making independent films, shooting predominantly on 8mm film. He is also a leader of a group of independent filmmakers called The 7th Poetry Society. Song of a Dying Summer is his feature-length debut.
