Twan was born and raised in Goes, The Netherlands. At a very young age, Twan was discovered as a model by a model agency and through that found his passion for media, commercial and film. He started to work as a freelance casting agent in 2016 and started his own casting agency RIV casting in 2017. Since 2024 he works as freelance production manager / first AD for films, series & commercials.
