Shyamasundar Mohapatra was a theater (jatra) actor from Odisha, India. He started his own theater group named "Kalinga Natya Parishada" and worked as an actor. His first play was "Rakta Puja" written by Krushnaprasad Behera, where he played the role of Adhiratha. Later he joined theater troops like Odisha Opera, Janani Opera and restarted a new party named "Manchapushpa". He also worked as a playwright and wrote plays like Jatiya Pataka, Mahiyasi Mahila, Balya Bidhaba, Labakusha, Buniyad, Chandrashekhar, Chhatrashala, Kharabela, Beiman, Pratidan, Sultan Mamud, etc. He was awarded with Sangeet Natak Akademy award in 1980 for Jatra. In 1979, he also appeared in a small role in the Odia film "Mathura Bijaya", a film based of the child-life of Lord Krishna.
