Alain Bouchard was born in Chicoutimi (Quebec, Canada) in 1949. He is President and CEO of Alimentation Couche-Tard. As one of the founders of Couche-Tard, he began operations in 1980 with the opening of his first store in Quebec. He has over 40 years' experience in the retail sector. Along with his closest associates and employees, he has worked tirelessly over the years to grow Couche-Tard. In North America, Couche-Tard is the largest independent accommodation chain (whether or not integrated with a petroleum company) in terms of the number of company-operated stores (corporate stores). Operating under the Couche-Tard, Mac's and Circle K banners, its network comprised some 6,100 stores as of April 28, 2013, with more than 60,000 people working across the store network and at service centers in North America.
