At the age of nineteen, Michel (as he preferred to spell his name) joined the Young Americans, and for the next three years trained as a singer/dancer. This launched his professional career touring the United States and Europe on stage and television with such stars as Mitzi Gaynor (who he regularly toured with and appeared in her TV specials), Kate Smith, Frank Sinatra, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and many others. Michel's theatrical credits included "Mame," "Cabaret," and Harold Prince's production of "Evita" at the Shubert Theater in Los Angeles.
