Royi Akavia an artist, an entrepreneur and a director of animation. Originally from Israel, after 26 years in the US, Royi moved in 2011 to Japan and now is working and living in Osaka. Since 1980's Royi artwork has been displayed in several museums and galleries throughout the world, including the permanent collection of the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Norton Museum in Palm Beach FL. Aspen Museum, Colorado including museums in Japan. The Sezen Museum in Tokyo Aichi Prefectural Museum in Nagoya and Hiroshima Museum of Contemporary Art in Hiroshima 1999 Royi Akavia was appointed official corporate artist for Western Unions Ambitious Y2K painting project. 1999 Royi Akavia was also commissioned by noted Anti-Child abuse non- profit organization Kidz 2000 to paint a portrait of popular rock music artist Lenny Kravitz. Royi Akavia has also performed art direction and set design duties for several projects for MTV Europe. Including MTV Beach House, as an art director, Hague, Holland. And for MTV Movie Awards nomination special set designer, Miami Beach, Florida Akavia is best known, for a series of works entitled "Faces That Make Money." The distinctive pieces combine a collage made of real devalued international currency and layers of varnish over which.Akavia paints the portraits of modern subjects who have money, make money and spend money. The works are also burned with fire to create a glass like 3-D surface reminiscent of old world craftsmanship. The end result: The rich and famous - such as Queen Elizabeth - are situated atop such personalities as Bolivar, Leonardo, Lenin and Margaret Thatcher. 2010 Royi become one of the management team of "Move to Learn Apps" with Columbia University in New York. In 2006 Akavia created and founded Howl-larious, an animation company that provides a truly one-of-a-kind Art Talking, Pet Talking and Online Ads. In 2005 Royi founded Little Director. This program enables to bring children's drawings to life. Little Director was awarded numerous animation awards for its work. In 1999 Akavia creates Cydonia, an animated short film intended to teach children the benefits of keeping our planet clean and pollution-free.
