Richard Schwalb

Richard Schwalb is taking the leap from a lifelong passion for enjoying movies and plays and musicals into acting himself. Or as Schwalb is often heard saying as he works on his first two indie film projects, "I'm not an actor, but I play one on TV". Born and raised in the Milwaukee, WI area, Schwalb studied Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin with a plan to do medical research. Always wanting to please and entertain others with puns and other jokes, Schwalb was aware of a certain lack of timing when delivering those jokes. Schwalb would say, "I'm either going to go to medical school and then do research, or stand-up comedy. So I'd better study hard or I'm going to starve!". Fate had other plans. Schwalb began a decades long career doing software development and then relationship management for a technology company serving the financial services industry. A proud father of 3 adult children, a daughter Rebecca teaching English in South Korea, a daughter Rachel working toward a Poli Sci degree at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), and a son who recently moved to New York, Richard Schwalb feels uniquely at home when in New York City. It is his son Joseph's budding career as an actor with a fresh BFA in performance from the University of Evansville's renowned theater program that renewed Schwalb's interest in the arts and performance, and prompted him to make that reverse leap across the fourth wall.
