George Callander is an ordained minister, an actor and writer. He gained early theatre training in the late 1970s/early 1980s as a student of Aberdeen Children's Theatre. He has performed in a range of productions over the years - large and small: drama, comedy, musicals and pantomime. He made his professional debut as an 'Ugly Sister' in 'Cinderella' over Christmas 1991/92, and has since played 'Dame' in many pantomimes. George made his TV debut as an 'Acolyte' in Channel 4's 1983 series 'Scotland's Story'. He appeared in a number of episodes of 'Hospital Watch' in his previous career as a registered nurse and has contributed to many television and radio programmes, including featuring in an episode of fourthought.tv for Channel Four. As an actor, George is perhaps better-known to theatre audiences in the guise of 'Miss Bunty Del Mar' (the original plus-size supermodel and star of stage and screen), a comedy character he brought to life in 2010. In addition to regular monthly appearances at 'Prohibition Cabaret Club' in Newcastle and Gateshead, Bunty has starred in annual theatre shows around the north in Scarborough, Darlington, Gateshead and Newcastle in 2016/2017/2018/2019 2016: Viva-Variety! 2017: The Heels Are Alive! 2018: On The Crest Of A Wave! 2018/19: Just A Thong At Twilight! (adults only). In his 'day job' George is senior minister of a very liberal free church in County Durham.
