Born in Athens, Georgia, Gabriel is a director, producer, screenwriter. He is the founder of A Certain Something, the production company behind his films "The Least Untrue," "The Damnable Deprivation of Dmitri," and the streaming series "Extra Room," for which he was the show-runner and director. The show received nominations for Best Series, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Editing at the Madrid International Film Festival, and Best Series at the Barcelona Planet Film Festival. Gabriel is the author of twenty-two screenplays, teleplays, books and theatrical scripts which have been seen in dozens of productions in the U.S., Vienna, Tokyo, and Buenos Aires. His short play "Overanalysis" was chosen as one of the "Best Short Plays of All Time" by City Theatre, and has been produced in almost every major city in the United States, as well as Japan and Argentina. In New York, it has been performed in three separate incarnations. Gabriel has directed over sixty film, television, and theatrical productions across the United States and Europe, including the documentary play "And Then I Woke (A Vicarious Cataclysmic Event)", and Cherrye J. Davis' "How To Mourn An American". In 2014, he collaborated with 24 European and American artists on the world premiere of "Other Identities," a site-specific promenade performance at the Varna International Theatre Festival. One of the directors of Peculiar Works Project's Village Fragments (OBIE Award), Gabriel has directed at many of the world's most cutting-edge theaters, including HERE, LaMaMa, Downtown Art, the New Ohio, The Bushwick Starr, Ars Nova, Dixon Place, The Red Room, CAP21, Abingdon Theatre Complex, The Brick, Bank Street Theatre, Peculiar Works Project, the Independent Theater, New Georges and Judson House (NYC); A Contemporary Theatre/ACT (Seattle); Theatre Project, 14 Karat Cabaret, and AXIS Theatre (Baltimore); Arena Stage, Source Theatre Company, Theatre Conspiracy, DCAC, Tavern Stage and the Corcoran Gallery (Washington, DC); OutProud Theatre, 14th Street Playhouse, and Seven Stages (Atlanta); and venues in Philadelphia, Chicago, Vienna, Sofia, Bucharest, and Budapest, among others. He has directed area and world premieres by Theresa Rebeck, Brad Fraser, Gretchen Michelfeld, Daniel MacIvor, and Michael Hollinger. Gabriel has taught directing at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Brooklyn College, Pace University, Towson University, Muhlenberg College, the University of Maryland, Rutgers University, Union College, Abrons Arts Center, Theatre Outlet, R.S. 9 Szinhas Budapest, Teatrul de Comedie Bucharest, the American Corner Sofia, Theatre Sfumato, the ACT Festival, and more. He received his degrees from Georgia State University and Towson University, respectively.
