It is said that art imitates life. As a child, Baltimore native, Cori Robinson watched the television series Fame and knew she was watching her future. At seventeen she became the youngest performer to accompany the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's annual "Live, Gifted, and Black" program with narrative classical-style singing and a dramatic reading. She had her first taste of the small screen with an appearance in the hit drama, Homicide: Life on the Streets. Cori then headed to New York City to pursue her performing dreams. With only a dollar and her dream, she endured her fair share of obstacles before landing her first big gig singing background for Gwen Stefani on Saturday Night Live. In addition to Homicide: Life on the Streets, Cori has appeared on Rescue Me, Saturday Night Live, As the World Turns and The Guiding Light. She can be seen in the films The Replacements, The Corner, All the Women I've Loved and The Head of State. Her theatre credits include roles in: Trojan Women, Jamaica, In Defense of Glitter and Rainbows, ROY G BIV: A Story Through The Eyes of Jimi Hendrix, Stirred Crazy: Inspired by the Life of Richard Pryor Jr., I Found My Way: The Dusty Springfield Musical, Re:Definition, La Llorona (with Opera Cultura), Dream Girls, Starlit Dreams, Hannah From Savannah, The Green- Tailed Mouse, Tomorrow, Love Child, Amen Corner, Bitter Apples, Circuit Breakers, The Gospel Truth, The Wiz and For Colored Girls Who've Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. Cori, a classical, jazz, and musical theater trained singer, has performed with the Opera Ebony company, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Metro Chamber Orchestra and was a featured guest at New York's famous Blue Note Jazz Club and the Apollo Theater. She has also shared the stage with and/or provided live background vocals for a variety of artists such as Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Kristen Wiig, Kanye West, The Roots, Bobby McFerrin, Rachelle Ferrell, B. Slade, MosDef, Pharoahe Monch and Talib Kweli on such venues as Saturday Night Live, Last Call with Carson Daly, the Sprite Liquid Mix Tour, New York's Summer Stage and others.
