Carrie Cates was born in Amarillo, Texas on November 30, 1979 to Sherry Kay Dickey (Cates), a homemaker, and Jerry Lee Burtram, an auto mechanic. Carrie began acting in school productions at the age of 11 and won her first Best Actress award at 13 for her portrayal of Sheriff Deputy Sagalong Donovan in 'The Shady Lady of Gopher Junction". She was involved in Theatre Arts all throughout high school and had plans of attending drama school after graduation. Soon after the events of 9/11, Carrie enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Military Police officer until honorably discharged in 2005. After settling down and raising a family, she returned to acting in regional theatre productions and became a member of The Middle Company, the resident acting company for the Hudson Valley Performing Arts Laboratory. Her most recent roles include that of Jamie O'Neal in "Living Closely", an original play written by members of HVPAL and a world leader in the BRIC TV series "All Hail Beth".
