Bo-Yu Chen

I work professionally as a freelance cinematographer in Los Angeles and part-time as a Steadicam operator. My recent credits as cinematographer include a feature-length psychological thriller, and numerous short narratives and a TV pilot spanning the genres of action, comedy, drama, and romance. I am actively looking for opportunities to give stories of different genres unique and memorable visual qualities. Over the years spent at Loyola Marymount University, I have enhanced my sense of compassion and embedded the practice of rigorous planning and open communication into my workflow. Starting from my first talk with the director, I strive to build a personal connection with the story, the characters, and the director's vision. This link gives me the creative freedom to be the compassionate observer who channels powerful stories to audiences with an unforgettable flair.
