David P. Weber is an attorney, certified fraud examiner, and registered private investigator. Until the conclusion of his federal career, in 2013, Weber was the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the SEC's Chief Investigator. Before the SEC, Weber served as the Section Chief of the Enforcement Section of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. In 2015-2016, he served as the U.S. money laundering expert to review the documents now known at the Panama Papers for the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. In April 2017, the Panama Papers investigation was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting. Weber currently practices law, primarily focused on representing victims of fraud, as well as whistleblowers. In 2018, Weber represented one of the key witnesses in the United States v. Paul Manafort trial, as well as before the grand jury investigation into the President of the United States. In addition to practicing law, Weber currently serves as a faculty member of a major U.S. university, teaching forensic accounting and business ethics. In 2018-2019, he served as the technical consultant to the major motion picture, The Laundromat, concerning the world of secrecy and money laundering, starring Meryl Streep, Antonio Banderas, and Gary Oldman. He also played a cameo role as a reporter in the film. He is married, and has four children.
