Steven Hermez was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and the oldest of three children. His mother and father are both Assyrian. He came to the United States at the age of three, where he lived in Chicago, Illinois for seven years. Later, his family moved to Skokie, Illinois where he currently resides. Both his parents had jobs during his early years in life. His father still currently works, while his mother assists with the house and her in-laws. His youngest brother is a Marine and his younger sister is an educator. He is the first person in his family to pursue acting as a career. Steven has an Associates Degree from Oakton Community College. He was pursuing bachelor's degree in Education at Northeastern University. In 2017, he dropped out of college; it was not until a few months later, his pastor at his church told him to assist with the Assyrian Resurrection Concert. He was eventually given a role for the short skits that were acted out on a stage, in Assyrian (Neo-Aramaic) language. That is when he caught the "acting bug," and started auditioning for American plays. From 2017-2018, Steven Hermez has been in several stage productions. Most notable ones; Invictus Theatre's Love's Labours Lost, he played the lovable clueless officer, Dull. Collaboraction Theatre's small 10 minute skit, The Boys in the Hood. He portrayed as Mr. Zemenksy, the somewhat racist principal. What he believes to be his best work on stage was at Oil Lamp Theatre, The Odd Couple: Female Version. He played as Jesus Costazuela; a man from Spain who recently moved to the states with his brother in hopes to have a fun time. In 2019, Steven Hermez focused on taking on-camera classes in order to transition to film and television. He took classes in Chicago at Vagabond, Green Room Studio, Blue Door Collective, Acting Studio of Chicago, and Shakespearean Studies with Invictus Theatre. In late 2019-2020, Steven has been in several films and a music video. In Planetstrider, he played as Ted, directed by Shannon Nash. In Good Guy with a Gun, he got his first lead role as Good Guy, directed by George Ayoub. Follows a very conservative man that embodies on what the American Dream is. Who handles most of his problems with his gun. Steven's second lead role was in Circuit, directed by Cassio Mendoza, as Shane. A Youtuber that talks about his life and struggles he had to deal with because of his face disfigurement. The most recent films are from Hollywood Casting and Filming. Steven plays Lloyd in the film Gemini directed by Joshua Pessetti. In Hedges, directed by Natalie Rand, Steven portrays Brian. Lastly Cheesy, directed by Jennifer Gillenwater, his role as Marcel is sure to be an interesting one. In all his life, Steven Hermez never thought that he would peruse acting as a career. Now that he is, his goal is to be the first ever full-blooded Assyrian to win an Oscar.
