Liezel Anita Rudd nee Swartz studied a Bachelor of Drama & Theatre degree at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa. She was deeply involved in the physical theatre department playing in two theatre productions with one 'Ontwrig' running at four festivals. She majored in Cabaret (singing & writing) and media training (radio & presenting) in her final year. After briefly interning in film & TV production the year after graduating, she signed on with top Cape Town acting agency (Artiste Personal Management) to start her professional voice artist & acting career. She has guest-starred in multiple local South African soap-operas and television series like 'Suidooster' as Nuraan Jaffer over 35 episodes. The story explored the tradition of an arranged engagement and the complexities of the Cape Town Muslim community dynamic. She also had a recurring guest role as naïve and fickle journalist Sybil Grootboom in Afrikaans telenovela 'Arendsvlei' throughout seasons 1 & 2. Production company 'The Standing O' produced South Africa's largest Immersive-theatre show 'Immortal' in the summer of 2017 in which she starred as one of the Sisters of Fate. It was inspired by New York's 'Sleep No More' and production ran for nine weeks at the Cape Castle of Good Hope. After some years in the industry she received further training in script-analysis and performance with actor and coach Matthew Harrison (Vancouver, Canada). This includes practical classes offered in Cape Town annually and work on the online campus; The Actors Foundry. During the 2020 lockown she kept busy by entering a monologue competition and won a meeting with Van Helsing director Michael Nankin and filmed web-series GROW.
