Ryan Mayers is a film student at the University of Central Florida in the class of 2022. His focuses are writing and editing. Ryan is a member of the UCF Screenwriting Club, and has worked on multiple sets and production, including his own. Though his academics are his priority, he is still writing and producing. Born in Rochester, New York, and growing up in Viera, Florida, Ryan made home videos and movies as a kid with his brother, Zach, and had a YouTube channel through much of high school. Though the channel started out with cell phone cameras and tape, he eventually brought up the production value with help from his high school's visual design department and his teachers. As the production value of his channel increased, so did his interest in filmmaking. In his senior year, Ryan co-directed a film project for his psychology class with his friend, Andy Saraka. This project was his first experience on a film set, and piqued his interest in filmmaking as a story medium. He went on to co-write and shoot a project with Saraka the summer before the two moved out to different colleges. Ryan was interested in pursuing filmmaking at college, but planned to study graphic design instead, as he considered it a safer major. However, Saraka and his father both convinced him to major in film, and now Ryan is pursuing a Film B.F.A. degree at UCF. Since beginning his studies, Ryan has worked on several projects, including his own short films.
