While one might assume Fashion Psychology emerged in the 20th century, its roots actually reach back to the 19th century. Harvard Professor William James was the first American psychologist to illuminate the notion of Fashion Psychology in both lectures and writings. Upon graduating from Columbia University in 2012, Dawnn Karen continued where Harvard's Henry James left off to pioneer the Fashion Psychology Field®. She has been the pioneering mind behind this global field since then, paving the way forward in fashion academia. She has written for several international publications, has spoken at many international engagements and has contributed to major networks as an international TV Personality & Media Expert in more than 25 countries. Her most recent speaking engagements include the Kyiv Security Forum per request of Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatensyuk and Former First Lady Tereza Yatensyuk and United Nation's Empower Women. Dawnn Karen holds a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Columbia University and is a candidate for a Master of Education at Columbia University. She recently traveled to the Middle East and Asia to extend the research on her theory about Fashion Psychology Field(TM) and she worked extensively with clients to expand her field. She decided to turn her focus towards lecturing and speaking engagements since she returned to the United States. Ultimately, she has made history as a pioneer in the field of Fashion Psychology (2012), as one of the youngest Professors and first black woman Psychology Professor, in the Social Sciences Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology (2014), founding the first ever online institution in the world to offer courses in the new Fashion Psychology Field- Fashion Psychology Institute (2015) and by publishing her book on her field titled Dress Your Best Life (US Edition) (2020).
