Shaalam was born in Kozhikode, Kerala to Sayyed Muhammed . He attended schools including Little flower AUPS Cheruvannur and Ganapath VHSS Feroke. He did his Bachelors in Visual Communications (Bsc.Visual Communications) from SAN I CAS Coimbatore and Masters in Business administration (MBA Media and Entertainment from Rajasthan. After graduating, Shaalam started making music videos and writing scripts. . In 2018, he made the Music video Once upon a time. The video starring Jaimi afzal and Shivaraaj . Then he started working in TV Commercials and Movies as Asst.director.
