Up-and-coming Indigenous Filmmaker, Alexandra (Sandy) Harjo-Livingston, is a former professor turned Emmy nominated filmmaker. He co-founded Sa'Ke Film Group with friend and business/creative partner, Jacob Sbragia, which houses their three production companies, Mãnana Productions, Shediculous Productions, and Focused Intensity Productions. Sandy's work spans the gamut of narrative film and television as well as documentaries. Dr Harjo-Livingston likes to explore the stories and myths of his ancestors and put them into science fiction or fantasy contexts that speak to our experiences as we live them today. He's found that "we are more inclined to ponder the moral and ethical implications of our choices and history when we see them in a context removed from our everyday lives." He is active in the Honolulu community, his adopted home, serving on the Boards of Directors for Olelo Community Media, Hawai'i LGBT Legacy Foundation, and Hawai'i Women in Filmmaking.
