Pearl Matteson is a New York based actor, who was born in China and raised in Connecticut. When she was little, she first began performing on ice, training to be a professional figure skater. When she was cast in South Pacific at the age of 10, she knew performing was her calling, and immersed herself in studying the triple threat of singing, acting, and dancing. Pearl Matteson graduated from The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts High School, where she majored in Musical Theatre in Dance, and continued her education at The University of Connecticut, where she received her BFA in Acting, with a minor in Business. Junior year of college, Matteson was fortunate enough to be able to travel to London, England and study Acting. During that program, Matteson became Stage Combat Certified with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat (BADC), receiving Distinction in hand to hand combat, rapier, sword, and dagger working with Rc-Annie. Matteson also worked closely with Barbara Houseman on voice and speech, Ben Naylor on Shakespeare, and Mick Barnfather on Movement. Pearl Matteson first appeared on the big screen alongside Margaret Cho in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, which was directed by Leslie Hope. She is an Actors' Equity Association EMC, and represented by About Artists Agency. Matteson has performed in shows with artists such as Tony Award Nominated Forrest McClendon, Desi Oakley, Tina Fabrique, Fred Grandy, Riley Costello, Sarah Schenkkan, and Will Mann. She has also worked closely with director Darko Tresnjak as a part of the Hartford Stage Young Company, Vincent J. Cardinal, Paul Mullins, Helene Kvale, to name a few. In her free time, she loves to sing, choreograph, and dance in all styles. She also loves to travel and explore, make people laugh, and figure skate. Having trained in voice and dance for over ten years, Pearl has spent time teaching dance and choreographing with Spectrum in Motion Dance Company, Sonia Plumb Modern Dance Company, and Dance 10 (where she originally learned the craft). She is a driven professional, with a lot of love, passion, and respect for the art. She hopes to make an impact in the world through her work both on stage and screen, while continuing to explore the possibilities the world has to offer!
