Victor J. Ference (Vic) was born on December 23, 1934 and raised in Uniontown, PA by his immigrant parents Anna (Wascak) and Stephen Ference. Vic was the youngest of his siblings: Velma, Drew and Theresa. He attended Uniontown High School where he graduated in 1952. After graduation, he worked in a local lumberyard and did extensive carpentry work. He married Joan Skocik on May 30, 1956. Vic and Joan had four children; Richard, Barry, Ronald and Walter. Early in his married life, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Charleston, SC for 4 years. After proudly serving his country, the family moved back to Pennsylvania where Vic was employed by United Airlines. He settled in Moon Twp., PA. After 30+ years with United Airlines, he retired. Vic served his community in a number of capacities, especially in boy scouting for over a decade. He enjoyed doing carpentry and automotive work and keeping up on the latest in avionics. He has been a life-long avid gardener. Vic was 19 y.o. when his esteemed older brother (Drew Ference) died. "It is a heartache you live with forever" he said.
