Brian Bishop took up video and filmmaking as a hobby early on during grade school while growing up in Boise, Idaho. He quickly found an affinity for behind the camera work, and he began studying cinematography and editing. By high school, he had found a close group of friends, all passionate about film and video. Brian lead them as a director and cameraman in making short sketches and films posted to YouTube under the name Spiffy Films, a name derived from their preppy sense of style. In his Jr year of high school, 2016, he shifted Spiffy Films into a video production company with help from his friend and filmmaking partner Caleb Stevens. Together, they began using spiffy films to submit to festivals, produce music videos, and some corporate/real estate videos. Upon graduation, Brian and Caleb went their separate ways. Brian moved to Seattle, Wa to continue his work making music videos. Quickly becoming dissatisfied with this, he got himself into the Seattle YouTube community and built up a new network of creative and impassioned friends and filmmaking partners. Brian began traveling back to Boise on occasion in order to work with Caleb on more narrative films as opposed to corporate videos. During this time, he began writing Virtue. Originally a short film, it quickly turned into a feature length story. Spurred on by his new network and having spoken with regional distributors about the plausibility from a business perspective, Brian, through his company Spiffy Films, began production on the feature film Virtue in spring of 2019. He paid completely out of his own pocket to produce it, and it marks his switch to a new form of filmmaking, one he strove for from the start.
