Markus Lingevall

Known for his action filled, often controversial storytelling, writer-director Markus Lingevall was born on Ferbuary 2, 2000, in Stockholm, Sweden. Over the course of 8 years of filmmaking, Markus has gone from low-budget independent films to working on some of the biggest blockbusters ever made. At 7 years old, Lingevall began making short movies with his father's digital camera. While studying the Arts programme at Täby Enskilda Gymnasium, he shot films with his classmates where he learned the guerrilla techniques he would later use to make his first feature, Vargmötet (2019), on a budget of around 1 600kr. The noir thriller was recognized at his school by teachers and pupils. Markus however was very disappointed with the film and took the film as an inspiration for his next film, Föraren (2020). Markus second film was Föraren (2020), which he directed from his own screenplay based on a short story by his friend Elias Öster. Starring Dennis Tapio, the film brought Markus numerous honors, including an applaud from his parents. Markus went on to direct the critically acclaimed psychological thriller, The Insider (2021), starring Dennis Tapio and himself. The turning point in Markus career occurred when he was awarded the chance to revive the Vargmötet franchise in 2019/2020. In Mannen Utan Namn (2019), Markus brought a level of gravitas back to the iconic characters, and his gritty, modern interpretation was greeted with praise from his peers. The film was not finished however. Before moving on to a sequel to Vargmötet (2019), Markus directed, co-wrote, and produced the mystery thriller Svensk Kriminalfilm 2 (2020), starring Jonas Hedlund and Elias Öster as criminals whose obsessive rivalry leads to tragedy and murder. In 2021, Markus is supposed to direct, co-write, and produce Vargmötet 2 (2021) which is supposed to gross more than a 50 000 dollars at the worldwide box office. This however is only rumored. Markus resides in Vallentuna, Stockholm with his cats, Selma and Morris. Markus and Elias Öster also have their own unofficial production company, Fvcked Up Media.
