Born in Buffalo, New York, J. Patrick Burns (known as Jim to family and friends) is an American actor, singer, and voice over artist who grew up between New York and Ohio. He is of strong Irish and Italian decent. Jim's education began in Catholic parochial schools where he developed his appreciation for singing hymnals in weekly religious celebrations. Jim spent most of his life singing in Catholic Choirs. His education continued to Wright State University where he competed as a varsity athlete on the men's swim team for four years before graduating. He continued his adult education earning both master and doctoral degrees in occupational therapy to carry out his motivation to work with people on achieving their maximum potential to lead satisfying and productive lives. Having a strong love of country with patriotic values learned at home, Jim followed in his father's footsteps by enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2001 (pre-9/11) where he spent the majority of his career serving on active duty. Jim took a leap of faith completing Army boot camp followed by Officer Candidate School and Airborne training all at Fort Benning, GA (Home of the Infantry). Jim will never forget seeing the herds of wild boars in the dense brush during land navigation training in the hot Georgia sun. His military overseas experiences include two tours as a combat engineer in South Korea and one tour in Iraq as an occupational therapist. In 2005, Jim also took part in relief efforts for Joint Task Force Katrina providing healthcare and relief efforts to victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, LA. During his Iraq deployment in 2006 - 2007, Jim provided rehabilitative interventions to service members and detained individuals on a mission referred to as "Detainee Healthcare." Serving abroad provided him with deep insights into appreciating other cultures and maintaining quality relations between the United States and other nations. He is trained as a Defense Strategist for the Department of Defense while numerous leadership experiences adds depth to his acting abilities in a large variety of character roles. Family time is important to Jim where he enjoys spending quality time with his two young sons, Eliott and Jonathan. The three Burns men embark on numerous athletic adventures from long bikes rides to swimming, horse back riding, and rope climbing. Jim's performer repertoire includes voice over acting in a variety of character roles. The majority of Jim's singing experiences come from enthusiastically participating in Catholic choirs with other talented singers. He cantors church services promoting liturgical music, and proudly sings renditions of the Star Spangled Banner at military and sporting events. Jim successfully completed classes in acting and voice overs at The Actors Training Ground located in Raleigh, North Carolina under the direction of Tanner Lagasca (SAG-AFTRA). He sings under the direction of Mrs. Jill Austin, a classical pianist & choral director, in North Carolina. Known professionally as J. Patrick Burns, he continues to act in a variety of character genres and share his passion for singing.
