Kylie Aoibheann is an Australian transgender writer-director known for her raw, intimate approach to genre filmmaking. She is the co-founder of the production company Inner Pictures, where she began her career as a writer-director with the short documentary "Farewell Happy Fields". During her time at The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Kylie also collaborated with the Deaf community to write, direct and co-edit the psychological thriller "See for Yourself". Featuring a breakthrough performance from Deaf lead actor Bronek Lemów, the short is now streaming in Australia on national broadcaster ABC iView. In 2022, Kylie finished shooting her latest short film "Asexy": a romantic drama which was a finalist at Queer Screen's Pitch Off and raised over $5,500 AUD in crowdfunding. Based on the lands of the Garigal (Caregal) clan of the Eora Nation in Sydney, Kylie is in development of her debut feature "Deadname": a supernatural horror drawn from her life and fears as a transgender woman, which was accelerated in Australians in Film's Untapped Lab (supported by Screen Australia). Outside of her work as a writer-director, Kylie is also a staunch advocate for better LGBTQIA+ representation in media, and has provided interviews to Triple J, ABC Queer, Star Observer, FilmInk and more.
