Semonov graduated from the railway college. In the years 1925-1931, he worked at the railways, an at the same time he performed in drama circles of railway clubs of the Leningrad hub. Studied in the studio of L.S. Vivyen (1887 - 1966). In 1931-1932, 1934-1940 - actor of the Leningrad Drama Theater. In the years 1934-1938. He led the drama groups in the Leningrad House of Scientists and in the Higher Military Electrotechnical School of the Red Army command staff. From 1940, Semonov was an actor of the Petrozavodsk Theater of Russian Drama. During the war, he worked in the drama theater of the city of Engels and the regional Ural Theater. In 1945, at the Sverdlovsk Drama Theater. In May 1945 he was transferred to the Lenfilm film studio (in Leningrad), from where he soon left. In 1947 he wrote the play "Tam, gde ne bylo zatemneniya" (Where There Was No Blackout). In 1948 he organized and directed the experimental theater at the Leningrad branch of the Writers' Union. Then he moved to Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR (now Lithuania) where he worked for several years at the Vilnius Theater. Later he gave concerts from the Vilnius Philharmonic.
