Milton Kahn, aka Dave Mitchell, worked as a gag writer and assistant for Leon Schlesinger's "Termite Terrace" animation studio in the 1930s, contributing behind the scenes to Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons helmed by luminaries such as Tex Avery. In the 1940s, Mitchell worked on Paramount's part-animation "Speaking of Animals" series of comedy shorts (originally co-created by Avery).
