Lin Yan Jun was a trainee under Banana Entertainment and part of Banana Entertainment's trainee group, Trainee 18. In 2018, he participated in 'Idol Producer' as a trainee where he placed fifth on the show with 12,131,367 votes, securing a debut with the group Nine Percent on April 6, 2018. On August 28, 2018, his own studio was established to help manage his solo career. He released his first solo single 'YOU' on August 24, 2018. On November 12, 2018, Nine Percent released their debut album 'To The Nines' with 7 tracks. Yanjun released his first solo music EP 'Imperfect Love' on January 7, 2019. Within 28 seconds of its release, it raked in 5 million yuan and broke 6 sales records on QQ Music. The music video was later released on February 19, 2019. He won multiple awards in 2019, such as Best New Singer Award in Hong Kong and Taiwan at the 26th ERC Chinese Top Ten Music Festival. Imperfect Love also reached No.4 on Billboard China Social Music Chart on March 3rd, 2019. His second EP 'Escape' was released on April 12, 2019. Yanjun wrote the lyrics for the title track 'Get Outta My Head' and composed the melody for 'Over You'. On August 24, 2019, he released his new single 'Competitor' with the music video being released on August 30, 2019, on QQ Music and YouTube. It became the 3rd music video to accumulate 50 million points on the QQ Music MV Peak Chart on October 3, 2019. Before Nine Percent's disbandment on October 6, 2019, they released their second album 'More Than Forever' on September 26, 2019. The album consisted of solos from the members, Yanjun's solo song is entitled 'Like A Star'. On June 13, 2020, Yanjun began filming for his first drama Fall In Love in which he stars as Xu Guangyao. He attended the filming ceremony of his second drama Crush on September 14, 2020. This is his first drama as the male lead, he stars as the visually impaired Su Nianqin who is also the mysterious songwriter Yijin.
