Maryse Gargour

Maryse Gargour was born in Jaffa. She grew up in Lebanon. She studied in the French Institut of Press ("Institut Français de Presse") and Université Paris II Panthéon. She has been a producer and journalist at the Office of French Radio, Distribution, TV ( "Office de Radio-Diffusion-Télévision française") in Beirut. She joined the International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication, a council to Unesco, in Paris, and has been a freelance journalist for foreign TV channels in Paris. As a writer or director she has a filmography of the following documentaries on Palestine: Une palestinienne face à la Palestine (1988), Jaffa la mienne (1998), Loin de Falastin (1998), Watan Blanche (2001), La Terre parle arabe (2007), Encounter with a lost land (2013). The film "La terre parle arabe (2007)" has won the Award "Memory of the Mediterranean" (Prix «Mémoire de la Méditerranée») in the context of the International Award for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportages, June 2008, Turin (Italy).
