Spencer Striker

Spencer Striker, PhD, is a digital media designer and producer based in Doha, Qatar. He is the creator of History Adventures, World of Characters, a narrative-driven, interactive book series that provides a fresh approach to history education, designed for today's digital generation. The multi-modal learning experience combines the latest in mobile entertainment with the power of narrative design-bringing the pages of history to life. History Adventures foregrounds the power of story, narrativizing the experiences of people who lived in past centuries-in different epochs and locations around the globe. Students witness the very real moments these very real people lived through, as if they were there. And via the empathy inspired by storytelling: students feel the life or death stakes of decisions made in the moment. Striker launched two of Dubai's most influential podcasts. The Dubai Wave Podcast, (2017-2019), looked at big picture Dubai, illuminating a 360-degree viewpoint of the city via in-depth interviews with leading personalities in various industries. While Digital Dubai, (2016), focused on leaders in Dubai's burgeoning tech scene. Striker served as Founding Creative Director for a games and learning startup in Mountain View, CA called Galxyz, Inc. He oversaw the design of the narrative-driven, intergalactic science adventure--which was backed by Relay Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, and the Emerson Collective. Spencer is also the founder of the four-time Webby Award winning game media studio, GameZombie TV, (2007-2012), which contains one of the web's biggest archives of game developer interviews. A PhD holder in Digital Media from the University of Wisconsin at Madison: Spencer is a proven, award-winning creative director, professor, and producer of story-driven, next gen digital products that synthesize visual fx, mobile, education, and the latest in interactive tech.
