Amara's parents immigrated from Africa's powerhouse - Nigeria - to a suburb in Ohio to chase the American dream. Enduring the growing pains of being one of the only dark skinned girls in town, Amara later became a scholar at the University of Cincinnati - coincidentally where her parents initially met. She's an intellect. She studied pre-law and political science and graduated with high honors and a Presidential Leadership Medal. And intuitive. Without ever touching a camera, Amara interned in Washington DC for NBC News' Andrea Mitchell, produced breaking news segments for MSNBC & CNN in NYC, and even attended press briefings at the US Capitol and the White House. She's not just beautiful but also has brains. Her stories about working in the news highlight her perspective as the reporter and also the civilian; shedding light on the idea of propaganda and what makes a story. When I met her she was writing for a publication that was only circulated to prisons. She was writing for the incarcerated and has a lot of beliefs on our prison systems and true rehabilitation. Amara lived a different life before becoming a model. Finding the confidence her 12 year-old self needed back in Ohio, she took a leap of faith in the acting world. She now confidently steps into her own skin and really owns who she is - a light. She stops traffic and is unique, not just by looks but in her own journey.
