James B. Knight is a southern New Jersey native and Philadelphia based stand-up comic and writer. Growing up, James has always had a love for comedy; watching afternoon stand up on Comedy Central and SNL, Comic View on BET, and seeing such comedians as Chris Rock, Damon Wayans, and Bernie Mac on the silver screen. As with all comedians, James loved to make people laugh, and much to the chagrin of teachers and authority figures everywhere, he was able to do that where ever he went. James has studied and taught sketch and improv at Philly Improv Theater (PHIT Comedy) and has at the Upright Citizens Brigade. He was also the head writer & video producer with Philadelphia's premier all POC sketch group, NYTE Shift. James was also the head writer for a five-show run of a Halloween sketch show 'Nightmare on Jawn Street' and a writer for sketch house performers Tiny Arson, both for Philly Improv Theater. He also regularly performs with Philadelphia's longest-running, award-winning short-form improv group, The N Crowd. James has performed for a many sold-out crowds, most notably two nights at Good Good Comedy Theater. He's also performed at the Black and Funny Festival (MN), Cinder Block Comedy Festival (NY), Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival (IL), We The People Festival (PA), Black Friday Comedy Marathon (PA), and many years of the Del Close Marathon (NY).
