Dr. Julius John is a university educator, a professional actor, a performance coach, and a mentor for thousands of Theatre Arts students. John specializes in diverse areas of theatrical education including, Shakespeare, acting, theatre management, theatre development, theatre history, musical and multicultural theatre, script analysis, private voice, movement, and constructive rest. Musical Theatre is his passion. John received his training in Musical Theatre and also auditioning from Mary Zimmerman and Kip Niven. He studied tap dance under Rosemary Howard, jazz under Nina Wheeler, voice under Mary Gale Green, and acting with Fred Rubeck and Sonny Bell. As Marat in Marat Sade, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Al Calinda in Working, Geronte in Scapino, and John the Baptist in Godspell, Dr. John has demonstrated the range of his professional training, discipline, and daring. As a veteran of the Mac-Haydn Theatre in New York, he presented amazing character portrayals in Crazy For You, Grease, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Meet Me in St. Louis, and The Sound of Music. His passion for developing a love for performance in children is undeniable in his performances during a variety of touring children's productions of Really Rosie!, Rodney the Reluctant Dragon, A Tribute to Shel Silverstein, and Jack and the Beanstalk. Dr. John has a second love...fashion, which lead him to serve as the Vice President for Fashion News Live, attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles for RLG Productions. With credentials from London, as well as at the Drew Summer Shakespeare Institute and his beloved alma mater, Elon College in North Carolina, Dr. John continues to be busy giving private lessons in acting and voice as well as preparing individuals for successful auditions. Dr. John is currently an Associate Professor and the Director of Theatre at Bethune Cookman University. He obtained his terminal degree in Acting from Western Illinois University and his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Gwynedd Mercy University. Orlando, Florida is home for Dr. Julius John.
