An award-winning, powerhouse creative, Ecem Lawton represents a new-generation jack-of-all-trades artist. Having double-majored in Film & Media studies and Psychology at Columbia University '16 and received a master's in Contemporary Art at Sotheby's Institute of Art London '18, Ecem developed a powerful and unique perspective in her vision as a director. She is able to capture the true essence of her subjects and turn them into a product that reveals their wildest, fullest potential, giving them the guidance and tools they need in order to actualize their dreams. Her vision as a filmmaker is marked by underlying art-historical, philosophical, literary and mythological references. She makes ample use of subliminally placed motifs, lights that might be described as "gallery psychedelica," daring camera movements, and iconic dance choreographies that create meaning through movement. Ecem goes above and beyond to create unique, timeless art pieces that are powerful enough to precipitate a sea-change in the culture. Since her debut in the field of Turkish music videos, artists have begun to put more effort into their visual pieces, dance has gained more importance, and TikTok challenges have become an essential follow-on to a music video's choreography. Ecem directed music videos for the likes of Turkish pop star Kerimcan Durmaz, for whom the video 'Pesimde' made by Ecem won 'Best Music Video Award' at Number1 VMAs in 2021, and was nominated for a Pantene Golden Butterfly Award, Zeynep Bastik, Mustafa Sandal, Kenan Dogulu, and the Turkish National Soccer team. She worked on the movie 'Give Me Liberty' which won the 'John Cassavetes Award' at Film Independent Spirit Awards in 2019 and premiered at the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals, receiving a standing ovation that lasted 10 minutes at the former. She was also a production crew member for ABC Network's Emmy winning show 'The Chew.'
