Thomas Jensen

Thomas Jensen is a composer, arranger, and trombonist from Sandy Hook, Connecticut. He is a student at the University of Connecticut. Jensen is pursuing degrees in Music Composition and Music Education with an emphasis in Jazz Studies. He has studied composition under Christopher M. Lee and Dr. Kenneth Fuchs. He has studied trombone and bass trombone with Jim Marbury, Dr. Matthew Russo, and Prof. Sean Nelson. At UConn, he has been in the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra, Trombone Choir, Brass Quintets, Marching Band, Pep Bands, and Pit Orchestra for UConn Dramatic PAWS. Jensen composes and arranges for a wide array of idioms, including Jazz Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Ensembles, Techno Music, and Children's Music. His chamber piece "Circa Finem" was a 2018 recipient of the National PTA Reflections Award of Merit in Composition. Jensen currently resides in Connecticut, going back and forth between living in Sandy Hook with his family and living in Storrs to attend UConn. Jensen performs frequently within Pit Orchestras and various theatrical productions, primarily with Fairfield Center Stage and UConn Dramatic PAWS as a trombonist.
