Ariel Baska is an openly disabled writer, director, and producer, known for her work on social justice projects, particularly in documentary and horror. She shot her first film, Our First Priority, about medical gaslighting, while awaiting brain surgery. It became an Official Selection of Arrow Video's FrightFest in London, among many others, and won the Disability Advocacy Award from Superfest Disability Film Festival. Her experimental animated short film, She's Never Been a Bird Before, screened at the Engauge Experimental Film Festival in Seattle. She is a fellow of the Portland Art Museum Career Sustainability Lab, endowed by the NEA, and a fellow of the RespectAbility Lab. She is the founder, co-host and executive producer of Ride the Omnibus, a podcast and non-profit parked at the intersection of pop culture and social justice.
