Chris grew up in Richmond, Virginia as one of the few Asian-American kids in his town. His parents immigrated from South Korea in the 1980s and started a restaurant business which was a big part of Chris's upbringing. He also played competitive golf as a child; his dad wanted him to be the next Tiger Woods. Chris went to college at Columbia University where he met friends he would later start a tech company with. In 2012, Chris cofounded an education software company, which he would go on to later sell. Chris came to theater in his 30s when he gave himself to pursue his lifelong dream of acting and storytelling. In 2020, he moved to Brooklyn to attend the two-year Meisner conservatory at Terry Knickerbocker Studio, where he studied with the namesake of the studio Terry Knickerbocker. He has since studied at Identity School of Acting and with actor/teacher Katie Flahive. Chris's mission in storytelling is to empower audiences to re-imagine themselves and the world they live in. The aim of his creative practice is to spark collaboration, connection, and healing.
