Daniel Ali is an American author and filmmaker from Jersey City, NJ. The film, Love and the Game, which he wrote and produced is based on his novel of the same title. In 2019 he founded Gatekeeper Creative Works as a vehicle to develop talented inner-city youth in film, music, art, writing, and other forms of creative expression. He also works as a Youth Program Coordinator with the Jersey City Department of Recreation and Youth Development and is well known for his tireless efforts on behalf of the youth of Jersey City, particularly in the Black and Latino community. Ali is the author of two novels, Love and the Game published in June 2020, and Across the Middle, published in May 2021. Love and the Game, (the film) received honors from several top film festivals including New York City's Hip Hop Film Festival, the prestigious Bronze Lens Film Festival of Atlanta, and Golden Door International Film Festival in his hometown of Jersey City. Ali has also penned two books of original poems, Learning to be Me, published in 2019 and illustrated by his nine-year-old daughter, Isabella and Hopeless Romantic, a selection of love sonnets published in January 2022. In October 2021, Ali began work on a full-length feature film called Delilah, based on his book, Across the Middle. The film stars Michelle Batista, (Love and the Game), as the beautiful, and enigmatic Delilah Hernandez whose checkered past poses real problems in her fledgling relationship with a university professor twenty-five years her senior. Delilah is scheduled for release in the fall of 2022 and will be distributed by Fast Forward Films and Homestead Entertainment.
